What is SuperEnalotto
SuperEnalotto is an italian lottery born in the late nineties. Unlike Lotto, to which it was initially linked, SuperEnalotto has a variable jackpot. Playing is very simple, just fill in a card with 6 numbers chosen from those between 1 and 90. To win the jackpot you must guess the entire combination, and therefore all 6 numbers, but it is also possible to win smaller prizes by guessing less numbers.
How to play SuperEnalotto
To play SuperEnalotto you have to choose 6 numbers between 1 and 90. Once chosen, you have to mark them on the ticket and you have to wait for the winning combination to be drawn. You win depending on how many numbers are matched.
The playslip is divided into two sections, the SuperEnalotto part and the optional SuperStar part. You can subscribe for multiple draws, and then repeat the same game, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12 or 15 times. You can also make systemic plays, with which you are more likely to win because different combinations are brought into play.
In the SuperEnalotto game, the odds of winning are as follows:
2 numbers guessed: the probability of winning is 1 in 22;
3 numbers guessed: the probability of winning is 1 in 327;
4 numbers guessed: the probability of winning is 1 in 11,907;
5 numbers guessed: the probability of winning is 1 in 1,250,230;
5+1 numbers guessed: the probability of winning is 1 in 103,769,105;
6 numbers guessed: the probability of winning is 1 in 622,614,630.
Superstar: how it works
The SuperStar number option was introduced in 2006 to give the public a better chance of winning prizes. The SuperStar number is also drawn during each SuperEnalotto winning combination draw. Being chosen from a different urn, it is possible that the Superstar is a number already drawn for the main sextuplet.
The SuperStar number adds more chances to win, at a cost of €0.5. The odds of winning for the SuperStar number are as follows:
0 star: the probability of winning is 1 in 138;
1 star: the probability of winning is 1 in 303;
2 star: the probability of winning is 1 in 1936;
3 star: the probability of winning is 1 in 29,404;
4 star: the probability of winning is 1 in 1,071,626;
5 star: the probability of winning is 1 in 112.5 million;
5+1 star: the probability of winning is 1 in 9 billion;
6 star: the probability of winning is 1 in 56 billion.

Brief history of SuperEnalotto
SuperEnalotto was introduced on 1 December 1997 in place of Enalotto, and the first draw took place two days later, on 3 December. The idea came from Rodolfo Molo, former Sisal president and son of one of the inventors of the Totocalcio. Enalotto had first appeared in the 1950s, but then it was transformed to make it more attractive and became very popular right away.
In the province of Brescia, on 17 January 1998 the first superenalotto jackpot was won, corresponding to 11.8 billion lire. Jackpots can reach very high figures, exceeding 100 and even 200 million euros.
Initially, the SuperEnalotto drawings were based on those of the Lotto. In fact, the first numbers drawn from the wheels of Bari, Florence, Milan, Naples, Palermo and Rome were taken, and the Jolly number came instead from the wheel of Venice. With the creation of a new regulation, in July 2009 the winning combination of SuperEnalotto no longer depends on the Lotto drawings but on a separate draw.
